Once Bitten, Twice Bitten

So ok..we came home late in the evening on Monday and after three full days of taking care of the kids 24/7, I thought that I would get a few days of respite for the next couple of days while Humaira was in school.

Well, I thought wrong.

A call from the childcare centre came in on the noon of that fateful Tuesday and whaddya know..Humaira's suspected of contracting HFMD. Hello...haven't we gone through this last year???

And what bad timing it was too. I was exhausted, hubby's working all of his 12-hour day shift, the baby just refused to be put down for a nap, I was unbathed and very hungry..yada yada yada..

Luckily, I have very supportive family members and not to forget, neighbour. The baby was left next door in my neighbour's care while I run around the flat getting ready not unlike a headless chicken. We then drove to the centre to pick up Humaira and rushed to mil's house to leave the baby so that I could take Humaira to the doctor for confirmation. On the way, both girls were in their respective car seats and cranky and were crying the whole time. My sister, who knows me pretty well, would know that in such a situation I would be on the brink of tears too.

To cut a long story short, Humaira indeed had HFMD. And now we're stuck at home, all the while trying to make sure that she doesn't infect the baby. Luckily she's on the road to recovery and luckily, I have an amazing husband whom, would always bear the larger part of the work in the home which recently includes cooking and he's pretty good too (I think he's stealing my mojo cos my cooking has pretty much sucked lately). Though you might think that I'm complaining too much, bottom line is, I love my family.

Which just reminds me of the Lion King song.. 'We Are One'.
