D-Day

If anyone remembered, Babes Out @ North East was held yesterday. This is the baby show that Humaira registered for.

I was at my maximum event planner mode even before the actual day. My preparations include:
- shortlisting the outfits that the babe would wear down to two. I decided that she would wear the one with the pants to hide the scar from a mosquito bite at the back on her leg. The other suit would be a back-up cos it’s a dress and I would change her if the other contestants were more well dressed.
- I was ready to cover her scars with concealer and a bit of face powder so that her body was peerrrrfect.
- I trimmed her nails and cleaned out her ears the night before while she was sleeping. Hubby was tasked to shine the light from my hp screen onto her fingers so I won’t wake her. These two items were given a final check on the morning of the event.
- I prepared all the accessories to match her outfit the night before and lined them up on the bed.
- I chose outfits for hubby and myself so that firstly, our colours match (to form a united front) , and also did not wear black, so that we did not look like terrorists.
- I gave instruction for hubby to clean all the hair on his face so that he is clean shaven on the day
- on the morning of the show, I ensured that humaira was washed and soaped from her to butt to toe so that she would smell nice.
- I carried her myself from the time she was dressed to the time she met the judges because she wont as so much dare to pull out the scarf on her head as compared to when her daddy carries her.

As you can see, I was so much geared to win. If not the top 3, at least the 10 consolations prizes.

So did we win, did you say?

Regrettably, my bubbling babe didn’t so much as blink at the judge/doctor and just wouldn’t clap/take the toy/shake the rattle/wave/give her famous flying kiss/respond to anthing that he offered/spoke and was the whole time looking at his face and then ours and then his…

Can I scream right now?????

To lessen the pain that I feel right now when writing this, I have to say that I was moody the whole day afterwards and while we walked back to our home with empty hands, I felt like I was walking the walk of shame.

And now? I’m just planning my content for the complain letter that I’m going to write.
